I dropped into Crazy Coqs tonight, which is a club situated in the basement of the Zedel bar and brasserie, just off Piccadilly in London’s West End. The venue is a grand French art deco restaurant with classic brasserie dishes and choucroutes, sited in an historic 1930s building.
The cabaret was highly-respected vocalist Emma Kershaw who delivered an excellent and entertaining set in the superb company of pianist and arranger Clive Dunstall, guitarist Peter Callard and bassist Don Richardson, who was impressively depping for Andy Pask at very short notice, as Andy very unfortunately been taken ill.
The quartet presented the songs of the Carpenters alongside an additional tasteful selection of classics by Bacharach and David. Highlights included an emotive ‘Superstar’ and a light-hearted take on ‘Goodbye to Love.’
Marvellous to catch up with flautist Andy Findon who was on hand to catch the excellent musicianship on stage.
