An excellent late lunch with rising star Alice Offley at Joe Allen’s this afternoon. Alice is a musician and singer/songwriter plus an experienced professional bass player and pianist. She currently holds residencies as a solo piano player and vocalist in high-end London venues and performs as a session musician for a variety of artists.
A relative of Dusty Springfield, Alice mixes a cocktail of soul, funk and pop to create her own unique style of music. As a classically trained pianist and singer, she has toured the world playing for artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Billy Bragg, Elton John and Suzie Quatro, as well as fronting her own projects.
Notable gig venues include Wembley Arena, Abbey Road Studios, The Cavern, Glastonbury, and countless Stadiums and theatres across Europe and America. As well as touring, Alice has performed for TV, film and radio sessions including on BBC1, Channel4 and Sky Arts.
She is endorsed by Casio Digital Pianos, and plays Christine McVie in Europe’s leading Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Fleetwood Bac.
With a Masters degree in Acting, she also can be found working on both stage and screen as an Actress. (Credits include Netflix, BBC, ITV1).
To quote from her brand new press release:
“Alice is launching her new project with a sassy song of defiance; describing what it’s truly like to be an urban female in the 21st century.
Featuring a ear-twisting sound with punk spirit, the single is a forerunner for her forthcoming album that delivers a contemporary mix of pop and R’n’B, while lyrically tackling issues that she’s faced at work and in relationships. Alice specifically aims to share her experiences to empower others.
A highly-respected piano and bass supremo, Alice has generated an enviable reputation for her energised playing and vocals alongside Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins, Tricky and Cyndi Lauper.
New music pioneer Tom Robinson is currently championing Alice on BBC6Music, and has chosen her to be the opening act during his nationwide summer tour in August.
Is It Because I’m A Woman? is set for release in the UK on 6th June 2025.”
