An informative afternoon at the V&A East in Hackney Wick, principally to visit the David Bowie Centre and its comprehensive range of personal items, instruments, clothing and photographs from his life and career. Of particular note amongst the incredible number of galleried archive boxes was the handwritten lyrics for Heroes and other legendary tracks.
A surprise find was a book detailing the history of The Toby Jug in Kingston, scene of the first ever gig featuring Ziggy Stardust, which contained all manner of fascinating facts about artists that played the venue from the 1960s onwards.
A walk around the other floors in the storehouse revealed the amazing depth of furniture and designs maintained by the Museum.
Upon leaving the premises, a brief walk towards the station led to a very pleasant meal and drinks alongside the canal at the Number 90 bar.
