I dropped into the 606 Club in Chelsea again this evening to catch Jazz ExTempore for a second time at the iconic venue. This exciting group features the talented Andrea Vicari on piano, Elvis Staniç (guitars and accordion), Rico de Jeer (bass) plus Hristo Yotsov (drums). Following onto the bandstand was pianist Barry Green accompanied by bassist Oli Hayhurst and drummer Jeff Williams. Kicking off with an extensive exploration of Cole Porter’s ‘Anything goes’, the trio left an indelible impression with their improv, humour and skill. Great to meet club owner, promoter and MC Steve Rubie and ex Jazz Services supremo Chris Hodgkins.
