A sublime evening in London Bridge with my wife Julie as we celebrated Valentine’s Day and our having been together for thirty years. As Julie had been at work in Westminster during the day, we met in the Bunch of Grapes in St Thomas’s Street in the immediate vicinity of the Shard. We then strolled through the cold night air past Borough Market to Lavington Street and the site of the Marco Pierre White Italian restaurant.
Julie’s daughter Lisa had very kindly bought us a three-course dinner for the night and we soon took our table and perused the agreeable menu. A choice of nachos, wings, chicken Milanese, the house hamburger, cheesecake and brownie followed. Enjoyable, but surprisingly not absolutely top class. Still, the service was good and the after-meal coffees in the lounge area very relaxing.
We then walked back towards the station and Amazing Grace, the excellent live music venue. This provided an excellent second half of the night, thanks to an energised DJ and first rate four piece band. Thanks to everyone who made the night special for us.
