A memorable night at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, as Tom Robinson entertained a packed audience with a set of classic hits and stories. Despite suffering from a couple of physical issues, Tom was in fine musical form and led an excellent four-piece band in delivering impassioned performances of The winter of ’79, Long hot summer, War baby and many other polished diamonds. I particularly enjoyed Tom’s current version of Dylan’s I shall be released, which had originally been the B side of his time-honoured 2-4-6-8 Motorway.
In support was multi-instrumentalist Alice Offley who proved a big success with the crowd, thanks to a clutch of her energised new tracks including ‘Don’t you mess with me’ and ‘Is it because I’m a woman’ from her self-produced album, ‘Are You Dealing With A Snake?’
Drumming star Sian Monaghan has joined Tom for this series of gigs and it was great to catch up with her afterwards too.
