She Makes War

I attended Laura Kidd‘s gig this evening at The Islington in Tolpuddle Road, a short walk from Angel tube station.  Performing under her stage name of She Makes War, she engaged and enthralled the audience with a range of gloom-pop originals and her dry between-song patter.

Laura is a captivating and talented artist – whether appearing as a solo act, with her dynamic trio, or as a bassist alongside such names as Viv Albertine and Erica Nockalls – and definitely a star on the rise. Acclaimed for her support slots with Suede, The Levellers and Midge Ure amongst many others, Laura/She Makes War has also appeared on 6Music and BBC Introducing in the company of Marc Riley and Tom Robinson, plus garnered considerable airplay including spins on Lauren Laverne’s BBC show.
