Jo Dudderidge

Jo Dudderidge

A delightful summer’s evening in Denmark Street, Soho, as I attended a promotional event at Rough Trade by Jo Dudderidge, well-known for his work over many years with The Travelling Band, as he promoted his new album ‘Living history’ under the artist name of Later Youth.

Upon arrival, I spotted his sister Joanna – who I have known for all her superb event and portrait photography during my tenure with the MU – enjoying a pre-gig coffee with her husband Louis and artist manager Howard Mills.

We made our way to the Rough Trade shop on the north side of the Street, where singer/writer Jo had been joined by a trio of drums, bass guitar and harmony vocals. The foursome presented a spirited set of seven new songs  to the small but enthusiastic gathering:

– Arcane Love
– Enabler
– Nuclear Love
– On the missing
– The Lurker
– Hotel Venezuela
– The Wave

Following our expressing appreciation for the excellent performance, we collectively walked the matter of yards to the Angel Inn in St Giles High Street nearby. My thanks to everyone I met, especially the new contacts I made. A memorable evening.
