The Musician (Sept)

The autumn issue of The Musician is distributed to MU members this week, an edition which marks my ten years as editor. The magazine covers a broad range of topics relating to the lives of working musicians in a bright and photo-led style:

– A profile of award-winning composer David Arnold
– News of a funding boost for music education in England
– How the MU is backing the Fair Digital Deals Declaration
– Is YouTube imposing restrictive contracts on music makers?
– Charting the huge influence of black musicians in Britain
– An interview with folk rock/prog band Moulettes
– How one complaint can spell closure for a venue
– Creating new revenue streams with library music
– Celebrating the 80th anniversary of PPL
– A new outlook for Help Musicians UK
– Packed Inbox feature with emails, tweets and letters
– The role of the modern state in supporting the arts
– A guide to booking gigs in the digital age
– Advice on increasing fees
– Reviews: CDs and downloads
– A number of Union notices and a directory of member benefits

Members can log into the MU website and access the journal via an ISSUU page turning facility.
