The Musician (June)

The summer 2014 issue of The Musician is being dispatched to members today. The journal’s contents include Frontline items outlining the MU fight to save the War Horse band, our planned Teachers’ CPD Weekend and a report on the MU Forum in Glasgow.

Reports included John Smith’s column, Horace Trubridge on business developments at SXSW plus an introduction by Fran Hanley into the Support My Music Teacher campaign. Longer pieces explored bullying at work, a Lost Arts campaign update, the FIM Orchestral Conference, the PRS for Music centenary and FAQs on term extension. This issue’s profiles featured Tom Robinson and Clara Sanabras, while the advice columns focused on finding a manager and choosing a band name. These were supported by the regular items: Reviews, CDs & downloads and Union notices: Key contacts, Ask Us First, Tributes, the Union’s summary accounts and a member benefits checklist. Summary texts of various features will be loaded in the public area of our site in due course, as these can be linked on Twitter for reference by members. This issue will also be available to members via the ISSUU facility on the MU website, plus CDs are being prepared to distribute the content in audio format to our visually impaired members.
