Southbank shoot

A very pleasant Sunday morning in the company of vocalist/teacher Cherise Adams-Bennett, graphic designer Chris Stenner, photographer Joseph Branston and three jazz music students (aged 13, 14 and 17) from Tomorrow’s Warriors.  The get-together had been arranged to create an education-related cover photo for the next issue of The Musician in the Community Cube on the first floor of the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank, overlooking the river.

The shoot proceeded smoothly and the resulting pictures have offered a pleasing range from which to choose a wraparound cover.  Chris, Joseph and I said goodbye to the musicians at lunchtime and walked over the road to the Archduke for an enjoyable meal.  My thanks to Kate McBain, Head of Learning & Participation at Tomorrow’s Warriors, and music leader Wayne Francis for their valuable help in setting up the shoot.

Tomorrow’s Warriors is a pioneering music education/professional development organisation, led by its award-winning founder and artistic director, Gary Crosby OBE and Chief Executive, Janine Irons MBE FRSA.  The organisation creates and produces an annual programme ranging from workshops and showcases for young musicians, to concerts and tours for established professional bands/orchestras, in partnership with an extensive network of local, national and international arts organisations, commercial producers, promoters and festivals.
