Sky Garden

With Ben away on a school trip, Julie and I had the chance for a night on the town and I booked a table at the Sky Garden, the Fenchurch Street rooftop restaurant in the City.  We arrived by black cab from Westminster and took the lift to the spacious bar on the 35th floor where we enjoyed a pleasant – although somewhat expensive – G&T and white wine.

We then walked up to the dining area on the 37th floor, where we were led to a window table and served by a very welcoming waiter, Corrado.  Unfortunately the view was spoiled a little by the combination of wintry darkness and heavy rain, however we dined on a combination of veal sweetbreads; poached Burford Brown egg, watercress sauce, speck ham and wild onions; partridge; goose; pumpkin tart; dark chocolate mousse; Neal’s Yard cheese and coffee.  All accompanied by a South African white wine, chosen in memory of my late sister Wendy.
