The MU hosted our regular stand at the main UK show for bass guitarists this weekend at Olympia. I joined MU Regional Organiser and bassist Paul Burrows, MU Officer Alex Mann and Regional Administrator John Shortell as we met numerous members, prospective members, students and many from the professional bass community.
Visitors were able to sample new gear and experience workshops from top players and the 4-string stars present included Duran Duran’s John Taylor, jazz legend Jeff Berlin, session maestro Leeland Sklar, Roger Glover of Deep Purple, Frank Bello of Anthrax, Mo Foster, Steve Lawson and Porcupine Tree’s Colin Edwin. Bowie and Weller bassist Yolanda Charles was kind enough to allow MU photographer Jonathan Stewart to shoot her demo sessions and she also superbly organised the Saturday night jam for exhibitors and guests. A very satisfying two days.
