As I am looking to join a local golf club, I arranged to spent the morning playing a trial round with the weekly ‘newbie’ group at Langley Park Golf Club in Beckenham. I met my contact Richard Jones who introduced me to the four players who had arrived for a game this week.
The combination of the August Bank Holiday weekend and the threat of heavy rain during the day clearly had affected the numbers. However, I swiftly teed off with my playing partner Kevin in a two-ball and we were soon racking up a healthy Stableford score off our respective handicaps. (I was playing off a speculative 14). The course consists of a challenging series of par 4s and accurate driving is consistently required to set up shots to the excellent greens. I enjoyed the play immensely and returned 36 points.
The course, superb clubhouse and pleasant social atmosphere certainly encouraged me to explore the membership options for 2019.
