Langley Concert

My wife Julie and I attended the Langley Boy’s Carol Concert this evening at St George’s in Beckenham, as the School’s Year 7 gave a series of excellent performances. Trumpet and organ announced the beginning of the selection of traditional and modern songs, led by the Head of Music David Bullen.

Superb choral singing by the Choir, Chamber Choir and Cantabile captured the true spirit of the season, while special mention should be made of soloists Monty Morris, Jake Bater, Quinn Murphy and Matthew Dackombe.  Rousing carols with audience and brass, and a sprinkling of seasonal readings all contributed to a memorable and festive evening, while prayers were led by Revd Fr. Jeremy Binden.

Our son Ben was involved in the energetic singing and dynamic arrangements of The Holly and the Ivy and The Sussex Carol, while the full Choir starred with the Nativity Carol and Ding Dong Merrily. Further highlights included the Cantabile with The joy of the angels and the Chamber Choir’s moving For him all stars have shone. Audience Carols climaxed with O Come All Ye Faithful. A lovely evening.
