Kent v Glos

A wonderfully relaxed Sunday at the Kent County cricket ground in Beckenham, as an in-form Kent eleven won a high scoring match against Gloucestershire in the Royal London Cup.  Once again a pleasure to meet County Fund Raiser Heidi Coleman, Director of Cricket Paul Downton and, as the teams came off the pitch, Head Coach Matt Walker.

The pitch is in amazing condition, both on the square and in the outfield.  The end of the Gloucestershire innings after 50 overs (322 for 8) allowed spectators to take to the field and enjoy impromptu games.  Ben and I played catch as the Gloucester bowlers warmed up behind us.

Julie and I benefitted from our main stand access tickets, by appreciating a drink on the modern balcony.  A facility that offers a grand view of both the match and the surrounding district.  We could also see Ben playing a game on the very far side of the ground, thanks to his distinctive new County hat!

Notable performers for Kent included South African Heino Kuhn with 113 and Joe Denly with 109, so the home team chased down the required total with around three overs to spare.  They have now qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition.
