JoanOvArc launch

A trip to Camden this evening to catch all-female, four-piece rock band JoanOvArc as they hit the stage at the Black Heart venue to launch their debut album entitled Ride of your life.

I spoke to rhythm guitarist Laura and drummer Debs in the bar, before climbing the stairs to check-in with the band’s management team. Support band Auxesis were only performing together for the third time, but their raucous rock entertained the small but enthusiastic crowd. The headliners swiftly ripped into Live Rock’n’Roll, my favourite of theirs, and illustrated why they are garnering praise for their live act and Planet Rock airplay for their recent single releases. The band proceeded to deliver most of their high-energy album and were then joined on vocals for some select covers by John ‘Nasty Nick’ Altman (Wild Child), the talented Adam Barron (With a little help from my friends) and guitarist Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell (Led Zep’s Rock’n’Roll, and Free Bird). A fun evening, my thanks to the band and their support team.

JOANovARC Setlist:

Live Rock n Roll / Ride Of Your Life / Dragon In The Sky / Seeds Of Summer / White Trash / Running Away / Work / Wild One / 5 Years / Going Down / Sisters / Peace Of Mind / Jane / With a Little Help From My Friends / Rock’n’Roll / Free Bird.

MU members should look out for my review of their album in the winter issue of The Musician.
