Friday bonanza

A particular busy but fun day courtesy of the MU Comms Dept Christmas lunch, the annual PPL & PRS for Music December drinks, plus in the evening to round off events, a Schroder reunion with former work colleagues in Belgravia.

First up was a very enjoyable lunch at the Duchy Arms in Kennington with my colleagues Isabelle, Maddy, Autumn and Kat. I then walked with Kat to Elephant & Castle station, where I caught the tube to Piccadilly. It was not long before I was walking along Jermyn Street towards St James’s St and the familiar bar at No.7.

The drinks event was almost at a close – it had begun at midday – and so I quickly retraced my steps towards Davy’s Wine Bar around the corner in Crown Passage. There is always to be found a heaving crowd of music business names after the PPL event. However, time was pressing and after a quick round of seasonal greetings, I set off for the Horse & Groom pub tucked away in a mews off Belgrave Square.

At the pub was a gathering of former Schroder workmates including Peter Brown, Peter Millard, Roger and Brenda Farley, Mairead Petronius and Paul Beard. Many a nostalgic story later and, following a suitable helping of beer and pizza, Julie, Mairead and I walked to Victoria Station and caught a midnight train home.
