Brighton Congress

Brighton Congress

The rearranged TUC Congress has been taking place this week in Brighton this week. I travelled down to the south coast from Leeds today, upon the closure of the MU Members’ Conference, as I was responsible once more for the live music at the Congress Dinner in the Grand Hotel.

I had recommended the excellent Noble Jacks to the event organisers and the streamlined duo of frontman Will Page and guitarist George delivered an uplifting set with outstanding harmonies during the drinks reception to the gathering of ministers, MPs, peers, union officials and guests. My sincere thanks to Lee Wickens who supplied the PA and lighting in his usual highly professional fashion.

The dinner was equally enjoyable, which was rounded off by a captivating speech by Labour Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves, and it was a pleasure to meet Angela Rayner, Frances O’Grady and Sir Brendan Barber during the evening.

My final thanks to Kudsia Batool and Andrea Rasheed for their support in making the planning and delivery of the event so successful.

The main photo shows Will and George sound checking in the afternoon. Great stuff guys!
