Ashridge GC

Ashridge GC

An excellent day at Ashridge Golf Club in Hertfordshire, courtesy of Peter Leathem and all our colleagues at PPL. The forecast had been for hot weather of above 30 degrees C and so it proved.

There were twelve teams of four competing this year and I joined Jason Rackham, Rick Salmon, and Richard Harris on the 13th tee in the morning sunshine just after half past eight. (Some teams began there, some on the 10th).

Having only played twice this year, I knew hitting the ground running was unlikely and I certainly struggled to gain any momentum for the first six holes. However, having reached the normal starting point of the 1st tee, I discovered some form and recorded a run of pars. My total for the regular back nine on the scorecard was 39 against a par of 35. This assisted the team in reaching a total of 84 points, although still some way – as it turned out – behind the winning score of 96.

Still, a very enjoyable round with some new friends and my thanks to them for being encouraging and supportive partners.
