A pleasure to attend the Artist & Manager Awards last night at the Troxy, Commercial Road, Limehouse. The venue is a converted 1930’s Art Deco cinema and was an ideal location for the Awards, sponsored by Spotify. I was on the MU table with Horace Trubridge, David Ashley, Kathy Dyson, Tom Edwards and Crispin Hunt.
Always good to say hello to Sandie Shaw and Tom Robinson and I particularly enjoyed the performance by Jools Holland and Ruby Turner. On stage, Robbie Williams, Paul Loasby, Rudimental and Scott Rodger were among the winners with Williams taking a break from tour rehearsals to attended and the receive the PPL sponsored Artists’ Artist Award, whilst Paul Loasby picked up the prestigious Peter Grant Management Award for his work with Jools Holland and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. Scott Rodger, manager of Paul McCartney and Arcade Fire, was named Manager of the Year and Pharrell Williams crowned his year of million selling hits being named Artist of the Year.
