I was delighted to attend the relaunch of the ARP Odyssey synthesiser this evening in underground venue The Vinyl Factory, at Phonica Records, 51 Poland St, in Soho. Rob Castle, Alan Skally and the team from Korg had arranged an entertaining series of presentations including guest MC Matt Berry, singer, songwriter and guitarist Nikki Murray on behalf of Takamine Guitars. The highlight, however, was the BBC Radiophonic Workshop – including several of its original members – who performed several of their best known compositions including the groundbreaking and still awesome Dr Who theme. Stunning to hear this at close quarters at concert volume. In the front row was a fully working Dalek! No hiding behind the sofa on this occasion.
