Abbey Road recording

I spent a very enjoyable few hours in the Abbey Road Studio 1 today at the invitation of Jim Hawkins who was playing piano and assisting with a recording session for Rock Choir who were making their second visit to the legendary facilities. Senior Recording Engineer Simon Rhodes, who was overseeing the recordings, proved very welcoming as did all the team and staff at the world-famous studios. Tracks cut included uplifting covers of Cindi Lauper’s True colours, ELO’s Mr Blue Sky and John Fordham’s The Voice. It was also a pleasure to meet Sarah Sendell, sound engineer, and Pippa Gearing who led the choir during the day.
