My thanks to artist manager Howard Mills for an entertaining evening in Hackney, as we caught up on our respective news at Oslo. Many a fascinating story was exchanged! Around 9pm we walked across to Paper Dress Vintage to hear Henry Grace and his four piece band. Henry is a classic Americana songwriter and the gig was a warm-up for his appearance on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury this weekend.
His debut album Alive In America was written about the formative years he spent living in California. The set was released in 2022 with the album painting a stark and vivid depiction of the place he called home and credits with saving his life.
The album received praise from the likes of Wonderland, Anthem and Americana UK and support from BBC Introducing and Spotify editorial playlists, with Henry being chosen by Danielle Perry as her self-released artist of the month on Absolute Radio’s Sunday Night Music Club.
