A particularly enjoyable day in Hadley Wood thanks to the Lord’s Taverners. A select group of 15 from the charity played at the top class local golf club, including former England cricket captain Mike Gatting and international batter plus Strictly winner, Mark Ramprakash.
I played in a team of three with Mark and Ray Owen, and despite wet conditions underfoot we returned a respectable score. My thanks to organiser Colin Buckle and everyone I met on the day.
The night before I have driven up from Beckenham and stayed at the West Lodge Park Hotel, close to the course. I can certainly recommend the Hotel with its superb grounds, spacious rooms and welcoming staff.
