Crisis at Christmas

Crisis at Christmas

Crisis was formed in 1967 as a response to growing homelessness across the UK. Since then the charity has helped tens of thousands of people out of homelessness and campaigned for change. The organisation now has a comprehensive network of premises designated as hotels and day centres for those in need.

I have considered volunteering and supporting its incredibly valuable work down the years and finally this year I registered at the Bermondsey Day Centre in Lynton Road, SE1. I therefore arrived on site at 8.45am today and checked-in for a shift through to 6pm.

Volunteers are met and briefed by a dedicated team of highly experienced team leaders and I was immediately impressed by their commitment to delivering care and services for the guests.

We were allocated a series of straightforward tasks during the day, always in pairs, and my thanks to all those I met for their engaging company.

I will certainly be volunteering again in the future and I recommend everyone to take advantage of the rewarding opportunities and give of their time to the local community.
