A marvellous evening at The Bedford in Balham in the company of Abdelkader and a nine-piece collective of musicians from aross North Africa and the Mediterranean. First on stage was Kader Fahem, a stunning Algerian acoustic guitarist, whose playing was as fine as I have ever seen and heard in a London venue. If you should get the chance to experience him live, especially if you love top class guitar playing, I can heartily recommend making the journey to catch him.
Various line-ups followed – all led by the characterful Abdelkader – who delivered a range of material, which had the delighted audience dancing until the close. This was the first of such gatherings and please check out his website to discover details of future performances.
